THE TAKEAWAYA forty-five-minute conversation and a two-minute promo are the same footage and completely different jobs. The promo is the one that shows what the edit is actually doing.
Four full episodes and a promo cut for the Acquirable Podcast, Stone Canyon Advisors' interview series on what makes a company worth buying. I edited the series and built its motion graphics.
The Acquirable Podcast is Stone Canyon Advisors' interview series about what actually makes a company worth acquiring — the financials, the efficiencies, the culture and the scale that take a business from sellable to irresistible. The four episodes here put people in the chair who have been through it: Garry Ridge, former CEO and Chairman of WD-40 Company; Joshua Donnelly, founder and managing partner of Stone Canyon Advisors; Brian Rott, CEO of Cart Mart; and Kim Folsom, a seven-time founder now running Founders First Capital Partners. Just under three hours of conversation between them.
My Role: editing and motion graphics, across all five pieces. The episodes are multi-camera interviews shot in 4K, running forty to forty-seven minutes each. At that length the edit is the whole job — which camera is on the line that matters, where the conversation drifts and can be cut without cutting the thinking, and how the pace holds somebody through a seated conversation they could close at any second. The graphics layer sits over that: the titles, the names, and the on-screen type the series is built around.
The short piece at the top is a different job from the same footage. "From Anxiety to Alignment" is a two-minute cut pulled out of a single episode — the early days of building something, the restless hands at the desk, the first client signing, the point where the fear turns into momentum. No new material was shot for it. It is a second arc found inside an interview that was never structured to have one, and of everything here it is the clearest look at what the editing is doing.
